‎Bengaluru:‎‎ Police have finally succeeded in tracking down the accused who poured acid on a young woman on the way to work in Bengaluru.

The accused Nagesh Babu (27), was nabbed from his hideout in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvannamalai, reports said. He had donned the disguise of a “Swamiji” to evade arrest, reports added.

The attack took place on April 28, when the 25-year-old woman was on her way to work. She is undergoing treatment at St John’s Hospital for acid burns sustained in the attack.‎

Police had said that Nagesh had preplanned the acid attack on the girl and escaped. He was allegedly in love with the victim, and when she rejected his proposal outrightly, he carried out the acid attack on her, an IANS report quoted police as saying.

Even after 16 days of the acid attack, Nagesh could not be traced. According to reports, a team of Kamakshi Palya police conducted an operation and arrested Nagesh.‎

The accused Nagesh Babu’s pictures had been released by the Police to help the public identify him.  Police had also issued the lookout notice in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil as well. Over 100 policemen are involved in searching for the accused.
