Bengaluru: Auto-rickshaw ride to get costlier from today onwards

Bengaluru: Commuters have to shell out more for auto-rickshaw rides in Bengaluru from today as the Department of Legal Metrology has notified the revised fare chart.

The department has notified the fares for trips up to 25kms. The minimum fare for the first 1.9km journey has been hiked from Rs 25 to Rs 30. Thereafter, Rs 15 will be charged instead of earlier Rs 13 per kilometer.

In November, the District Transport Authority had given its approval for the fare hike. This is the first auto-rickshaw fare hike in the last 8 years.

However, it may take up to three months for the revised fares to be shown on the meters. The recalibration has to be certified by the Legal Metrology Department, which is a time-consuming process.
