Bengaluru: BJP condemns egg attack on MLA Munirathna; criticizes Congress government

The BJP has strongly condemned the recent egg-throwing incident targeting MLA Munirathna, accusing the Congress government of fostering an environment of intimidation and disrespect.

BJP leaders expressed their outrage and criticized the state government for alleged misuse of power.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra called the act “unacceptable” and slammed the authorities for their perceived inaction.

“Using authority to intimidate and insult elected representatives is condemnable. Such behavior cannot be tolerated,” he said.
Referring to the suspension of Khanapur Inspector, Vijayendra alleged that the Congress government’s arrogance was evident in its actions. “This reflects how power can corrupt behavior,” he added.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, stating, “Allowing such acts to take place does not befit a leader. If there are allegations against Munirathna, let the law take its course. This incident seems aimed at instilling fear. Do not impose emergency-like measures like your predecessors.”

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, R. Ashoka, questioned the rationale behind the police’s actions. “The police delayed filing a complaint in the case of the attack on C.T. Ravi. They now claim that sugarcane fields are safer than police stations. Is this what law and order has come to?” he said, condemning the attack on Munirathna.

Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai accused the Congress government of mismanagement and lawlessness. “The Congress’ intolerance and misgovernance are crossing limits. They lack even basic knowledge that the law should not be taken into their own hands. This government is dividing the police force along party lines,” Bommai alleged.

Vijayendra visits Munirathna in hospital

BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra, accompanied by MP Dr. C.N. Manjunath and other party leaders, visited MLA Munirathna at KC General Hospital in Bengaluru to inquire about his health. The leaders also met with medical staff to gather updates on Munirathna’s condition.

The incident has escalated political tensions in Karnataka, with BJP leaders accusing the Congress government of allowing lawlessness and disrespect toward opposition leaders.
