Bengaluru: A 12-year-old boy lost his life in a two-wheeler-truck collision on his birthday. The accident unfolded on Hennur Bande Main Road late night on Saturday.

The boy, Bhanu Teja, originally from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, had come to Bengaluru to study Vedas. Staying at R.T. Nagar’s Satyanjaneya Swamy Temple for the past month, Bhanu Teja was pursuing his studies under the guidance of a priest.

Birthday Celebration Ends in Tragedy

On Saturday, Bhanu Teja celebrated his birthday at his sister’s house in Horamavu. He traveled there with his elder brother, Chakradhar, on a two-wheeler. After the celebration, the brothers were returning to R.T. Nagar around 11:20 PM when an Eicher truck collided with their bike from behind on Hennur Bande Main Road.

Bhanu Teja, who was riding pillion, fell off the bike. Tragically, the truck ran over his head, killing him on the spot. Chakradhar, who was riding the bike, suffered minor injuries.

The truck driver fled the scene, and Hennur Traffic Police are currently searching for the accused.

Studying Vedas at the Temple

Bhanu Teja’s father had aspired for his son to study the Vedas. A month ago, his parents had left him at the Satyanjaneya Swamy Temple in R.T. Nagar for this purpose. On his birthday, the family gathered at his sister’s house to celebrate with cake-cutting and festivities. The tragedy struck just as they were returning home.
