Bengaluru: A 50-year old business has been arrested for allegedly hiring contract killers to murder his elder son.
Avanahalli police attached to Bengaluru Rural station arrested BV Keshava (50), a resident of Malleswaram 17th cross.
Keshava Prasad on January 12, filed a missing person complaint claiming his son Kaushal Prasad who is a techie by profession, had gone missing on January 10. The complaint also mentioned that Kaushal had lent his phone to the younger son.
Meanwhile, the residents of Avanahalli alerted the police about a foul smell emanating from the gunny bags thrown on Elemallappa lake bed. On investigating the police found body parts of a man inside those gunny bags. Kaushal’s body was identified after the messages were sent across control rooms in Bengaluru. The body was handed over to the family after the post mortem.
The officer in charge explained that the CCTV footage showed Kaushal boarding a white Maruti Zen car near Malleswaram 18th cross.
The police tracked the vehicle and landed on Naveen Kumar and Keshav.
The officer informed that Naveen and Keshav had purchased the car a few days ago from a used-car dealer. The police who secured more CCTV footage from KR Puram and surrounding areas saw the car moving in Elemalla lake direction.
Later the duo confessed to killing Kaushal and revealed that Kaushal’s father had hired them for Rs 3 lakhs and had already paid the advance of Rs 1 lakh.
The probe revealed that Kaushal used to harass Keshava (father) for a share in the property, even beat his mother, and tortured them for money and property. Unable to bear the torture, Keshava decided to eliminate his son and contacted the duo, who were also the classmates of his younger son.
Naveen and Keshav made Kaushal drink alcohol spiked with sleeping pills before reaching the lake. Once Kaushal was tipsy, the duo beheaded him in the back seat of the car and chopped his hands and legs, then stuffed it in the gunny bags.
