Bengaluru: A Class 8 student allegedly died by suicide after he was caught indulging in cheating during a school exam, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Dheeraj, 13, a RR Nagar resident. His father is a high court employee and his mother is a homemaker.

On Wednesday a teacher caught Dheeraj while copying during the exams. As a punishment, he was not allowed to write the exam and school authorities also made him write an apology letter.

Upon returning home Dheeraj locked himself in the room. When he didn’t come out for a long time his mother decided to check on him and knocked at the door but he didn’t reply. Later she used a spare key to open the door and found Dheeraj hanging dead.

A case has been registered with RR Nagar police.
