Bengaluru: Amid drop in COVID-19 cases, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike chief said that it has shut down most COVID-19 care centres in the city.
However, the centres have not been dismantled due to the possibility of a third wave. According to reports, BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta added, “The positivity rate in the city is less than 1%. Our focus is on how to ensure the positivity doesn’t increase even as we’re trying to bring it further down.”
During the second wave of the pandemic, BBMP had acquired over 13,000 beds from both private and government facilities. Currently, the city civic body has 5,000 beds and are planning to bring down the numbers as cases have declined.
