Bengaluru: Empty streets, schools and offices shut

Bengaluru: A 12 hours dawn to dusk bandh has been called on 25th January by Vatal Nagaraj and other Pro-Kannada outfits demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the Mahadayi river water sharing dispute between Karnataka and Goa. The bandh has got an effect with the state’s capital completely shut down today.
Speaking to the media people, Vatal Nagaraj stated that the bandh is observed not to cause any inconvenience to people but to raise the Mahadayi issue in the parliament as it is the matter of lives of thousands of farmers and people of this state.
Over 2,000 Kannada organisations, government employees, Karnataka Film Chambers, trade associations, taxis, cabs and lorry associations, hotel owners association have expressed solidarity with the farmers relying on Mahadayi river water and have extended their support, Mr Vatal said.
Bengaluru has observed a strict band and no schools and firms will be functioning today.
