Bengaluru: Health and Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar on Thursday, November 12 visited the godown of a chemical factory at New Guddadahalli on 1st Main Road in Bapuji Nagar from where a massive fire broke on Tuesday, damaging property including houses and vehicles around.

Speaking after inspecting the godown Sudhakar said, “Legal action will be initiated against the culprits, including erring officials of the concerned departments for allowing the godown in Bapuji Nagar in the city to store chemicals.”

“Alcohol-related chemicals were also there. One needs to obtain permission from the drug controller under the Health department to store sanitizer. Action will be taken against the culprits. Action will be initiated against the erring officials too if found guilty,” he further added.

He also informed, “Compensation will be provided based on the report submitted assessing the quantum of damage. The same will be discussed with the Chief Minister as well,” he added.

The police had on Wednesday arrested three persons who owned the godown of a chemical factory from which fire broke out. The primary investigations have indicated that a huge quantity of chemicals including sanitizers were being stored in the godown without obtaining permission.
