Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has lodged a complaint after discovering a fake Facebook account created in the name of BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath. The complaint was filed at the Central Crime Branch’s Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station on October 11.
According to BBMP, fraudsters opened the fake account using Tushar Girinath’s name, photograph, job title, and BBMP’s name with the intent to misuse it. The issue came to light after receiving several complaints, and an FIR has been registered in response.
The fake account was reportedly being used with the potential to defraud BBMP officers, employees, and the public. The FIR has requested immediate deletion of the fake account and strict legal action against the perpetrators.
