Bengaluru: Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) in association with a private company is planning to start Helicopter taxi service in Bengaluru as travelers who arrive from other parts of the country and aboard lost their precious time in vehicle traffic jams in the city. According to the new initiative, the travelers can reach their destination by a helicopter from airport, said Union Minister for State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha speaking in a press conference held Devanahalli Kempegowda International Airport on Friday.
The new service would bring the customers to different parts of the city from the international airport to prevent loss of their precious time in traffic jams in congested roads of Bengaluru. In the initial stage, the Heli taxi service will start from Bengaluru international airport and electronic city within a time span of 90 days. A heliport would be built at electronic city to start the service, minister added. A heli-taxi service can bring the passengers from the international airport to electronic city within a time span of 15 minutes.
As many as 90 helipads exist on the top of the multistory buildings in Bengaluru and the helipads aren’t properly utilized. With the launch of new service, the helipads could be utilized and can generate income for the owners.
