Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Rural police on Thursday arrested a gram panchayat member for allegedly raping a woman at gunpoint at a farmhouse.

The accused has been identified as Ahmed Pasha, who is a member of Bilwaradahalli Gram Panchayat in Bannerghatta. The accused driver, Wahid has also been arrested.

The accused had reportedly befriended the woman over social media and had promised her a modelling job. He had posed as a councilor who was helping out the poor in the lockdown.

Pasha called the woman home on Monday on the pretext of a meeting. As the woman had brought her children along, Pasha asked Wahid to take the children out for snacks.

He then raped her at gunpoint and also took photos of the woman and threatened to distribute them if she told anyone. She was also asked to comply with his further instructions to meet him again.
