Bengaluru: The staff members of a private hospital in Bengaluru allegedly stole a gold chain and mobile phone of an 85-year-old woman who was admitted there.

The woman was diagnosed with COVID-19 and later succumbed to the infection on May 19. The woman’s son claimed that after the woman died, her valuables weren’t returned to the family.

M Jagannatha (63), who resides in Bengaluru’s Banaswadi area, stated that he admitted his mother Bhavani (83) to a private hospital in the city’s Kammanahalli area on May 11.

Jagannatha who was in touch with her through video calls noticed that her chain was missing on May 16.  He thought that her chain was removed as she was in the ICU for treatment.

But even after the treatment, he did not receive the gold chain worth Rs 50,000 and her mobile phone. Jagannatha alleges in his complaint that the hospital staff has stolen them.
