Bengaluru: Ashokanagar police have successfully apprehended four inter-state thieves involved in the theft at the Adinath Jain temple located in Shantinagar.
The arrested individuals, hailing from Rajasthan, have been identified as Praveen Kumar (29), Joshi Ram (24), Govindakumar (32), and Rajendra Kumar (30). The police have seized 14 kg of silver valued at Rs 9.70 lakh from the accused. The stolen silver ornaments were stolen from the Jain temple on the night of September 9, police said.
Among the accused, Joshi Ram had previously worked on tile installation at the Jain temple a few months ago. During this, he noted the presence of valuable silver items within the temple premises. Subsequently, in June, he returned to his hometown in Pali district, Rajasthan, and shared this information with his acquaintances.
Acting on this intelligence, the accused arrived in Bengaluru during the first week of September, taking residence in Shantinagar for two days. On the night of September 9, they executed the theft, making off with silver items worth lakhs of rupees.
