Bengaluru: J&K govt holds special camp for disbursing ‘domicile certificate’ for Kashmiri Pandits

Bengaluru: Domicile certificates are reportedly being issued to the migrated Kashmiri Pandits in Bengaluru, free of cost.

From March 9, 2022, a team from the Jammu and Kashmir government is holding a camp at Kashmir Bhavan in Jayanagar to issue the domicile certificates. So far, 700 persons have been given the certificate at the camp, the Times of India reported.

The Kashmiri Hindu Cultural Welfare Trust (KHCWT), an organization that is working for the Kashmiri Pandit community, requested the J&K government to hold a camp for getting a ‘state subject certificate’ for children of Kashmiri Pandits born after their exodus from the state in 1990, the same report added.

“The camp aims to ensure all Kashmiri Pandits are able to procure the domicile certificate. It can be a cumbersome process since a lot of documents and proofs are required. Hence, we decided to make a one-stop-shop for our members,” the TOI report quoted RK Mattoo, chairperson of KHCWT, as saying.
