Bengaluru Kambala ends on a high note

Bengaluru: The two-day spectacle of Bengaluru Kambala, the debut of the buffalo race from coastal Karnataka districts in the state capital, drew to a close on a high note on Sunday.
A big crowd gathered at Palace Grounds for the last day of Kambala, a buffalo race organized by committees from coastal districts. Celebrities including Rakshith Shetty and Pooja Hegde were in attendance for the closing ceremony.
Buffaloes from the movie ‘Kantaara’ won prizes, making fans happy. The second day ran smoother than the first, with more people coming to watch on big screens. Many in Bengaluru watching Kambala for the first time, expressed their happiness.
This Kambala event was also a rare occasion where political leaders from all walks of life came together. Leaders from both the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP showed their support.
The event also showcased the culture of the Karavali people. Folk dance performances including Yakshagana, Aati Kalanja, Huli Vesha, Kangeelu Kunita, Mankali Dance, Kambalada Pada Dance, Chennu Dance etc. entertained the crowds. The audience was mesmerized by the dance performed by Oxygen Dance Team. The comedy show and musical evening also added colour to the festive atmosphere.
To engage the audience further, the Goldfinch distributed free gift coupons, drawing a massive crowd with promises of prizes like cars and bikes.
Sunday being a holiday there was higher footfall than the previous day. At least 8 lakh people attended the debut Kambala event in Bengaluru.
At the conclusion of the event, buffaloes were boarded into lorries to transport them back to their homes on the coast. With heavy hearts and teary eyes, Bangaloreans bid farewell to the beloved buffaloes.
