Bengaluru: In the backdrop of a few states relaxing Covid restrictions on wearing face masks in public places, the Karnataka government is also likely to follow suit.
A decision in this regard will be taken in consultation with Covid technical committee and discussions with the chief minister, Minister Sudhakar told reporters here.
The compulsory face mask rule has been relaxed in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi. In Karnataka too, most people are not wearing face masks in public places and no penalty is being imposed for this violation. It is like an undeclared cancellation of wearing face masks. A decision will be taken after discussions with the chief minister, Sudhakar said.
On a new variant of Covid 19 being detected in China Sudhakar said that the state was monitoring the opinion of WHO in this regard.
