Bengaluru: Jayanagar police arrested a man who had stolen a gold brick weighing more than 1.3 kg from a city-based jeweler.
Based on a complaint made by Manish, the owner of Tirumala Jewellers, the accused Amar Mohant (33) has been arrested.
On July 1 last year, Amar Mohant, who was working as a goldsmith at the Tirumala Jewellers in 3rd Block Jayanagar, had taken a gold brick weighing 1.304 kg from the shop for crafting gold jewelry.
Thereafter, repeated phone calls by jewelry shop owner, Manish, went unanswered. It was later found that Amar had vacated his rented apartment and went missing with the gold.
During the investigation, Amar was traced to a place in Rajasthan and a team was dispatched to nab him. In the operation, jewelry weighing about 1 kg and Rs 50 lakh cash was seized from the accused, police said.
