Bengaluru: Man arrested for thefts

Bengaluru: The Rajajinagar police have arrested a man for allegedly breaking into houses.
The accused has been identified as Rafeeq alias Setu (29), hailing from Tumkur. Police have recovered Rs 22.08 lakh worth of gold including gold ornaments weighing 409.39 grams, silver ornaments weighing 425.8 grams, and fake gold ornaments weighing 189.15 grams.
Police said, more than 20 cases have been registered against the accused at various police stations in the city and other districts, including Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Mandya, Nelamangala, and Tiptur police stations.
Recently, a grocery shop owner in Prakashnagar complained that his shop was broken into and Rs 50,000 cash was stolen. The accused was arrested for his involvement in the incident, police said.
The accused, who hails from Tumakuru, came to Bengaluru in search of a job and was residing in KR Puram. However, he turned to theft, police said.
During further interrogation, he was linked to thefts in Peenya, Girinagar, Cubbon Park, K.R. Puram, Banashankari, Amruthahalli, and K.G. Nagar, police added.
A case has been registered at Rajajinagar police station.
