Bengaluru: Police have arrested a man for allegedly pouring petrol on his wife and trying to burn her alive.

The accused Srinivas suspected the fidelity of his wife Pushpa and would often pick up quarrels with her. The couple would reconcile following the elder’s intervention.

On November 16 night, Srinivas came home in an inebriated condition and began a fight with his wife. Things went awry when he poured petrol on her and set her ablaze. However when Pushpa started yelling for help, Srinivas immediately poured water on her.

Later he took her to the Victoria Hospital for treatment with help of locals. Pushpa is said to be recovering and out of danger.
