The deceased have been identified as V Manjunath (32), who worked as a lathe operator, and his wife M Roja (28).
The couple were basically from Malavalli in Mandya and shifted to a rented house in Tigalarapalya earlier this year. They reportedly married four years ago and would fight often over his consuming alcohol. Manjunath allegedly beat Roja regularly.
On Sunday afternoon, neighbors heard Manjunath and Roja fighting. In the evening, a neighbor alerted the police that the couple was not responding to his knock.
Police officials arrived at the spot and found Roja’s dead body lying on the floor and Manjunath hanging from the ceiling. Evidence indicated that Roja was attacked.
A case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
