Bengaluru: A 27-year-old man hid in a women’s toilet of an electronics showroom overnight to steal mobile phone for his girlfriend in Bengaluru.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Munaf originally from Bihar. He runs a cafe in BTM layout.
It is said that he was tracked down by the cops with the IMEI number of one the stolen mobile phones.
Munaf met a lady from Mangaluru on Instagram and they were chatting for a while. He wanted to gift a mobile phone to her and devised a plan to steal them from a nearby showroom.
On July 22, he visited the showroom in J.P. Nagar posing as a buyer and hid in the ladies washroom. When the staff shut the shop, he stole 7 mobile phones and then returned to the washroom.
He spent the entire night in the toilet and the next day when the showroom opened and the staff was busy, he walked out of the shop.
Police officials recovered 6 mobile phones worth Rs 5 lakh from the accused.
