Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly strangulated his girlfriend’s mother to death allegedly for not letting them live together.
The incident was reported from the Govindarajanagar police station. Nanjamma (54), a resident of Moodalapalya was killed using a plastic wire. The accused identified as Raghavendra (35) has been arrested in this connection.
Nanjamma had been living in Moodalapalya for the past seven years and was earning a living by working as domestic help. Her daughter Sudha was estranged from her husband Shivarame Gowda and was living with her mother six years ago with her two children.
Later, Raghavendra, who runs a garage in Pattegarapalya, met Sudha and love bloomed between them. He started living with Sudha, with permission from Nanjamma.
However, the relations soured as Raghavendra started ill-treating Sudha and her children under the influence of alcohol. Ten days ago, Raghvendra was thrown out of the house for quarreling.
On Thursday, Raghvendra came to Nanjamma’s residence and picked a fight with her. He threatened to kill her for separating him from Sudha. Later, late at night, he came back and strangulated Nanjamma to death and fled with the gold ornaments, police said.
The crime came to light on Friday when one of Nanjamma’s grandkids came to meet her and found her dead.
