Bengaluru: A man in Bengaluru lost Rs 35,000 to fraudsters after his card was hacked by cyber frauds.

The victim has been identified as Gangadhar GD of the Nandini Layout region. It is said that he received a text from his bank that Rs 35,000 has been deducted from his account. He was an active customer of  State Bank of India’s Vidhana Soudha branch since mid-2018.

The man immediately registered a complaint with the bank and also rushed to the office of the police commissioner for an official complaint.

However, the bank failed to take necessary action despite an order in place by RBI which says action needs to be taken and money has to be refunded to the customer in 90 days.

He lodged a complaint against the SBI branch manager and assistant zonal manager of the customer care department.

Gangadhar GD’s lawyer alleged that the incident had taken place at an ATM kiosk at Sullia in Dakshina Kannada. The SBI bank officials refused all the claims.

After six months of proceedings, the judges held the SBI authorities responsible for not addressing the customer’s grievance on time by not refunding his money.  The court ordered the bank to refund the money with interest apart from the compensation of Rs 10,000.
