Bengaluru: Man trying to buy bitcoin ‘cheated’ of Rs 3.5 crore

Bengaluru: The South Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) police in Bengaluru has registered an FIR against a person who identified himself as a cryptocurrency dealer and duped Rs 3.5 crore.
Based on a complaint that the accused cheated a J P Nagar resident of for an alleged deal of purchasing bitcoin.
An officer at the station said that the complainant named Gowtham P K was introduced to the accused by the former’s friend Ramesh TV, who supposedly became rich after trading cryptocurrency.
“A total amount of Rs 3.5 crore was paid through multiple bank transfers. However, Chandarana neither gave any cryptocurrency holding nor returned the money. The accused is now absconding and has not been responding to both Gowtham and Ramesh,” the police said.
The police are now trying to trace the accused as an investigation is underway.
