Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Friday night unsealed Mantri Square Mall after nearly five days following Karnataka High Court’s intervention.
It was sealed over non-payment of Rs 39.49 crore property tax. On the court’s directions, the mall’s management submitted a Rs 4 crore cheque as security deposit to BBMP, which will be returned when it hands over Rs 2 crore demand draft before Monday afternoon.
The matter will be heard on Monday for further consideration.
Earlier, the mall was also shut over a month ago for the same reason. Mantri Mall was also in trouble earlier for encroaching BBMP land. The regional commissioner had told the BBMP that the Mantri Mall and the adjacent Mantri Greens apartment encroached on BBMP land, and the BBMP wanted to demolish parts of the building.
In March 2020, the High Court stayed the move to demolish parts of the building.
