Bengaluru: Mantri Square Mall in Bengaluru was shut for three hours on Monday by the BBMP over unpaid property tax dues.
It was opened after the owners reportedly asked the BBMP for 15 days to pay up the remaining dues.
Earlier, the mall was also shut over a month ago for the same reason. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike officials had previously said that the mall has not paid its property taxes from 2018-19 and owes over Rs 39 crore.
Mantri Mall was also in trouble earlier for encroaching BBMP land. The regional commissioner had told the BBMP that the Mantri Mall and the adjacent Mantri Greens apartment encroached on BBMP land, and the BBMP wanted to demolish parts of the building.
In March 2020, the High Court stayed the move to demolish parts of the building.
