Bengaluru: Mother kills her 2 year old baby before committing suicide

Bengaluru: A 28 year old depressed mother allegedly strangled her two year old son and hung herself to the ceiling fan at her residence in Hemavathi Layout in Subramanyapura, South Bengaluru, on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as BA Pradha and her child Agasthya. Pradha was married to Anil Kumar, a software engineer in Bengaluru. They were married for the past three years.
The incident came to light when Anil Kumar retuned from work at 9 pm and found the door locked from inside. He opened the door using duplicate keys and found his son lying dead and his wife hanging from the ceiling fan.
He immediately called the Subramanyapura police and the bodies were taken for post mortem. Pradha’s mother who came to the spot collapsed due to chest pain and was hospitalized. The reason behind this extreme step is yet to be certain, but the police suspect Pradha took this decision due to depression. There was no suicide note.
According to Pradha’s mother, her daughter was prone to depression and had earlier attempted to commit suicide twice. She had no complaints against her son in law.
Police are investigating the case and are waiting for the post mortem report for further actions.
