The doctors at Bowring Hospital, who conducted the postmortem of Mahalakshmi, the murder victim from Vyalikaval, have submitted a preliminary report to the police.
Mahalakshmi’s body, which had been chopped into 50 pieces, was reassembled by the doctors before performing the postmortem. A preliminary report has been submitted to the Vyalikaval police to assist in the ongoing investigation. DNA testing and other examinations are expected to take place within the next few days, and a complete report will be available within a week.
Initial findings suggest that the murderer fatally stabbed Mahalakshmi in the chest and abdomen, severed her head, and then dismembered her body into around 50 pieces.
Search for the Accused:
The police are conducting a manhunt across West Bengal, Odisha, and other northeastern states for the suspect, who is believed to have brutally murdered Mahalakshmi, possibly due to an illicit relationship. After the murder, the accused fled to West Bengal and switched off his phone to avoid being tracked.
Two police teams are intensifying the search in Odisha and West Bengal. Due to the accused’s phone being switched off, his location has not been identified. The police have already contacted the suspect’s relatives in Odisha for more information. There is also a possibility that the accused may be using another phone number to contact family members or friends, so the police are monitoring any calls made to his close contacts.
Frequent Changes in Hideout:
The accused has been frequently changing his hideout, delaying his arrest. He had known Mahalakshmi for six to seven months and had an illicit relationship with her. Fingerprints of four to five individuals were found on the walls and fridge of Mahalakshmi’s house. Authorities are working to determine whether the murder was committed by a single person or involved a group of three to four individuals, according to sources.
