Bengaluru: Panel recommends night curfew amid Omicron concerns

Bengaluru: Karnataka’s COVID-19 Technical Advisory Committee has recommended that a night curfew from 7 pm to 5 am should be imposed in Bengaluru and other identified cities between December 30, 2021, and January 2, 2022, amid concerns over the spread of the Omicron variant.

The panel also suggested the prohibition of large and small gatherings in established venues for New Year’s Eve. Although regular activities can continue in pubs, restaurants, and clubs, organized gatherings in these places should not be allowed, the panel said.

Also, wherever needed Section 144 will be enforced and the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act will be imposed.

Technical Advisory Committee recommended that there shall be 50 percent occupancy in the temples, mosques, and churches between December 22 and January 2 and the priests must possess a negative RT-PCR certificate.
