Bengaluru: Parents commit suicide after daughter marries outside community

Bengaluru: An incident were the parents of a woman who married a man outside her community committed suicide occurred at Harokyathanahalli at the outskirts of the city.

The dead parents identified as Shivalinga Swamy (51) and Chandrakala (46) jumped into the water sump of their house on Thursday, August 27.

The incident came to light when neighbours came to check on the couple on the afternoon of August 28 as they had not seen them for a day.

They found both their dead bodies floating in the sump behind their house and informed the police.

A suicide note was found in the house stating that nobody should be blamed for their actions.

The elder daughter later revealed to the police that her 21-year-old younger sister had informed their parents that she has married the man she was in love with, both the parents were against as the man was from another community.
