Bengaluru: Parts of the city receive heavy rainfall, low-lying areas flooded

Bengaluru: Heavy rainfall on Friday, June 4 in Bengaluru has left low-lying areas flooded.

Parts of Bengaluru received heavy rains, accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds.Areas like Banashankari, JP Nagar and Puttenahalli were the worst affected by the rains. Mysuru road and roads in the Kengeri area in South Bengaluru were also flooded disrupting vehicular movement.

It is said that residents in 10 houses in JP Nagar were shifted to higher ground, due to the rainfall.

Bengaluru civic body officials said that the Sarakki rain gauge recorded 62.5mm of rainfall in half an hour on Friday evening.

The IMD has sounded a red alert for the coastal areas, warning of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada during the weekend.
