Bengaluru Police Arrest 6 Accused in Kidnap, Murder of IT Officer’s Son, Sharath

Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have arrested 6 youths after dead body of kidnapped youth found on Thursday at Ramohalli Lake in the state capital. The police took Shashi, Vishal, Vikki, Shantha and Karna into their custody after cops found their involvement in the kidnap and murder of Sharath, an engineering diploma student and son of Bengaluru based income tax officer, Niranjan. The identity of the sixth accused in the crime is yet to be known.

The five accused kidnapped the student on September 12 in Bengaluru and sent a video through whatsapp to his parents and demanded cash of Rs 50 lakh for the safe release of their son. However, the parents lodged a police complaint inconnection with the kidnap of their son.  

Vishal, lover of elder sister of Sharath and neighbour of the deceased Shahshi are reportedly involved in the kidnap and murder of the youth.

The accused strangled and murdered the deceased on the same day when he was kidnapped and threw the dead body to the Ramohalli Lake in the city. Two days later, the accused took the dead body of the deceased from the lake and buried nearby area as smell from the dead body could create suspicion among the locals.

Senior officials have visited the crime spot after South Zone police in the city arrested the culprits’ inconnection with case. Kengeri police are questioning the 6 accused to gather further information on the incident.
