Bengaluru: A man who was on the run for 14 years, following his conviction in a 2005 fatal accident case in Bengaluru, has been arrested in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur.
The convict has been identified as P Mativannan (48), a Tiruppur resident.
The city’s DCP (Traffic West) Kuldeep Kumar R Jain has said that the accused had allegedly rammed a four-wheeler into a bike, leading to the death of a 25-year-old bike rider.
In 2007, Mativannan was convicted of the offense and was awarded a one-year jail term. A fine of Rs 3,000 was also imposed on him. However, soon after this, he went absconding.
