Bengaluru: Police bust mobile phone snatching gang; Three minors among five held

Bengaluru: Police officials have arrested five persons in connection with the mobile phone and other valuables snatchings case. Twenty-six mobile phones worth Rs 4.55 lakh stolen by the gang have also been seized.
The arrested accused are identified as Akash (21) Kemparaju (25) and three other juveniles.
The incident came to light when one of the victims, Kumar (20) filed a complaint stating that his phone was snatched by a few miscreants while he was returning home from his workplace on June 15.
It is said that two men on a bike came from behind, snatched Kumar’s phone, and fled from the spot.
The Police team began probing the case and traced the accused as the IMEI number was active. Later the officials came to know that the gang comprised of five people including three juveniles.
The gang members used to target truck drivers who used to sleep on the Ring Road on the stretch near Rajkumar Samadhi. At night, the gang used to target people crossing that area returning from their workplaces.
Apart from the 26 smartphones gold chain of 20 grams was also seized by the police officials.
