Bengaluru: Hulimavu police conducted a raid on an unauthorized call center that was allegedly persuading customers to invest in the stock market without any proper authorization.
Two individuals, identified as Jitendra Kumar, the owner of the call center, and his partner Chandan Kumar, were arrested. Fifteen employees, including seven women, who were working at the call center, have been detained for questioning.
The call center, operating in the Hulimavu police station limits for over a year, was not officially registered. The employees reportedly made unsolicited calls, pressuring customers to invest in stock market schemes. Acting on a tip-off from the public, the police raided the premises and apprehended the suspects.
Investigations are underway to gather details about the companies whose stocks were promoted through the calls and to assess the financial gains made by the call center operators.
The detained employees are being questioned to uncover the extent of the scam and the methods used to lure unsuspecting customers. Further developments in the case are awaited.
