Bengaluru: Promo run of ‘Manipal Marathon’ kicks off
'Manipal Marathon' to highlight technology in fitness

Bengaluru: The highly anticipated 7th edition of the “Manipal Marathon” was officially launched by Indian cricketer Shreyanka Patil on January 12 at 6:30 am at the MAHE Bengaluru campus. The “Great Manipal Marathon 2025”, scheduled for February 9 in Manipal, Udupi district, follows this exciting promo event.
The Manipal Marathon has earned its reputation as India’s largest student-organised marathon, with over 20,000 participants from across the globe. The event’s theme, “Innovation in Motion,” paired with the tagline “Embracing Technology for Health and Fitness,” highlights the marathon’s dedication to integrating the latest technology to promote health and fitness.
Certified internationally by IAAF AIMS, the marathon routes will guide participants through the picturesque landscapes of Manipal and along the stunning Udupi coastline. In addition to the race, a grand carnival celebration will follow, and substantial prize money will be awarded, attracting elite athletes and avid runners alike.
“The Manipal Marathon is a symbol of health, fitness, and community spirit,” said Dr Raghavendra Prabhu P, deputy registrar at MAHE Bengaluru Campus. “This marathon shows how technology can enhance our health and make running more enjoyable for all. It inspires individuals to prioritise fitness as part of their everyday lives.”
Shreyanka Patil expressed her excitement: “I’m thrilled to be part of the Manipal Marathon 2025. It’s an inspiring platform where people from all walks of life come together with great energy. The theme ‘Innovation in Motion’ reflects the evolving fitness landscape.”
Ravindra Rai M, managing director & CEO of BOBCARD Limited, emphasised the role of innovation: “Training, performance monitoring, and injury prevention are all being improved by technology. This marathon is an excellent way to encourage the next generation to stay active. Congratulations to MAHE for consistently hosting this event, bringing thousands together for a meaningful cause.”
Shika Shetty, manager of the Visually Challenged Indian Cricket Team; Kiran Kumar, senior VP of marketing at UNext Learning; Dr Vinod C. Nayak, secretary of the Sports Council at MAHE; and other officials from MAHE Bengaluru campus attended the event. Over 50 visually challenged participants joined the promo run in a special category, alongside 1,500 students and other marathon enthusiasts.
Registration for the event is closing soon, with the deadline set for January 31, 2025. Runners still have the chance to participate in this exciting race on February 9, 2025, in Manipal.
