Bengaluru: Puthige Matha hosts ‘Geethotsava’ festival celebrating Bhagavad Gita’s essence

The grand “Geetotsava,” a festival celebrating the essence of Bhagavad Gita, organized by Sri Puthige Matha, took place at National College grounds, Basavangudi, Bengaluru, on December 23 and 24 in the divine presence of Bhavi Paryaya Swamiji, His Holiness Sri Sugunendra Theertha Peetadhipathi, and Sri Sushreendra Theertharu, Jr Peetadhipathi.
The Geetotsava is part of the Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna being organized in preparation for the fourth Paryaya of the Puthige Sri.
Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and N R Ramesh flagged off the Geetotsava event. A book containing the 18 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita was carried in a Silver Chariot. Puthige Sri and his designated successor were present.
Thousands joined for the recital of the verses of the Gita in the Gita Parayana. The sermon by the Puthige pontiff explaining the essence of the Gita drew the attention of the attendees.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, legislator and actor Jaggesh, actor Radhika Narayan were among the notable personalities who participated in the event.
