Bengaluru: Rahul Gandhi visits Puneeth Rajkumar’s family during K’taka visit

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to Karnataka visited the residence of late actor Puneeth Rajkumar and paid tribute to the late Kannada superstar.

Rahul met and expressed his condolences to Puneeth’s wife Ashwini, daughter Vandita and the late actor’s brother Raghavendra Rajkumar. He was accompanied by the state Congress President DK Shivakumar and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah.

Tweeting in Kannada, Rahul said, “I paid my condolences to Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and other family members of famous Kannada actor late Puneeth Rajkumar after visiting their home. Puneeth left unforgettable memories for all Kannadigas at a young age.”

Puneeth, popularly known as ‘Appu’, passed away at the age of 46 due to a heart attack in October 2021. Meanwhile, Puneeth’s last film James has hit the theatres, in which he is seen as security agent Santhosh. The film is billed as an action entertainer.

Earlier in the day, Rahul had participated in the 115th birth anniversary event of the late Siddaganga Mutt seer Shivakumar Swamiji. “Offered my respects to Late Shri Shivakumara Swamiji on the occasion of his Jayanti celebrations at Sree Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkuru, Karnataka.

Known for his selfless service to humanity, the late Swamiji was instrumental in educating lakhs of poor youth & shaping their future,” he tweeted.

Rahul said that he had met the late Shivakumar Swamiji when he had visited the Mutt on an earlier occasion.
