Bengaluru: Railway terminal at Byappanahalli likely to open on March 15

Bengaluru: India’s first centralized AC railway terminal at Byappanahalli in Bengaluru is likely to be inaugurated on March 15
The railway terminal named after Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and claims to give passengers an airport kind of experience.
It will have a waiting hall, a VIP lounge with a digital real-time passenger information system and a lavish food court. Also, it will have its own water recycling plant with a capacity of 4 lakh-litres.
The ₹314-crore station building is modelled after the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. The terminal will have seven platforms, apart from eight stabling lines and three pit lines. Every platform is 15m wide and 600m long.
The building of 4,200 sqm will cater to a daily footfall of 50,000. Every day 50 trains can be operated from the terminal
Also, the parking area would be able to accommodate as many as 250 cars, 900 two-wheelers, 50 autorickshaws, five BMTC buses and 20 cabs.
