Bengaluru: The city police have arrested a man accused of allegedly trying to set fire to the house of Pulikeshi Nagar Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy during the riots in the city last month.
The accused is identified as Mujahideen aka Water Mujju and it is gathered that he was absconding after the riots.
As per sources, Mujahideen, who was a waterman in the area, allegedly instigated hundreds of people in the area for the riots.
After the riots, Srinivas Murthy suspected the role of the waterman. However, he had been absconding since the incident and was hiding in his relatives’ houses in Kolar, Ramanagara, and other places.
The Police have been searching for him since the incident and they were able to arrest him at one of his relatives’ houses in Chamarajapet.
