A school bus veered off the road and fell into a quarry pit while trying to avoid hitting a two-wheeler on Kudlu-Parappana Agrahara Road.

Subramani, 32, the driver of the school bus was injured in the mishap and has been hospitalised for treatment. Luckily there were no children on the bus at the time the incident occurred.

Police said that Subramani was on his trip to pick up children for the school when he steered towards the left to avoid a collision with a two-wheeler on Thursday morning. In doing so he lost control over the vehicle hit a mesh and fell into the water-filled pit which is over 30 feet deep from the road level.

Following the mishap, local residents demanded that BBMP either close the pit or construct a strong supporting wall to prevent such incidents in the future.

A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against Subramani and investigations are on.
