Bengaluru: A security guard and his wife allegedly fled after stealing over Rs 50 lakh from the house they were working at in East Bengaluru on November 15. They also stole 170 grams of gold worth Rs 7 lakh.
The complainant Sridhar (47), an accountant by profession hired Krishna and Janaki as domestic help two months ago and had also given them accommodation on the premises.
Krishna worked as a security guard, Janaki was a maid at Sridhar’s Kammanahalli residence.
On 15 November Shridhar left home to attend a wedding. His wife and children were also away. The house was not locked as Janaki was yet to complete her work. Around 1.45 pm, Sridhar returned and found that the lock of his bedroom door was broken and that valuables were missing.
He noticed that Krishna and Janaki were missing and filed a complaint with Banaswadi police. Three teams have been sent to Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata in search of the couple.
Last month, Sridhar had got Krishna released from the custody of Gangammanagudi police, who suspected he was involved in a theft. Shridhar claimed he was innocent.
