Kengeri: MP and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje praised voters of the Yeshwanthpur Assembly constituency, part of the Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency, for teaching MLA S. T. Somashekhar a lesson by ensuring her victory by a huge margin.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organized by BJP and JD(S) workers at the Hosapalya Kalyana Mantapa in the Sulikere Gram Panchayat area, Karandlaje recounted how BJP leaders and workers had refused to work for Somashekhar in the last Assembly elections. Despite this, she persuaded them to support the party.
However, after winning with the help of BJP leaders and workers, Somashekhar did not stand by the party and instead campaigned for Congress. Now, voters in his constituency have given a fitting response, she stated.
With both a JD(S) MLC and MP in this constituency, Karandlaje promised to accelerate development, responding to the aspirations of leaders and workers.
Karandlaje said that all railway underpass and overpass projects in the Yeshwanthpur constituency will be prioritized.
She criticized the state government for attempting to “loot funds” by awarding piecemeal contracts in the Jal Jeevan Mission, a central and state government initiative to provide drinking water in rural areas. She assured a fight against this mismanagement.
Challenge to S.T. Somashekhar: Javarayi Gowda
MLC Javarayigowda publically challenged BJP MLA S. T. Somashekhar to contest elections again. “If you have the strength, come and face the election. I have lost four times, but voters say they will defeat you in the next Assembly election. I will contest again,” he asserted.
