The Bengaluru City police have uncovered a deceptive narrative after a Sikkim-based man, currently residing in Bengaluru, filed a false complaint alleging a racially motivated assault by three locals on a motorcycle.
The 30-year-old man’s formal complaint was lodged with the Electronics City police. In his statement, he claimed that on August 15, he celebrated his marriage anniversary with some friends and was on his way home alone late in the night when a few miscreants waylaid him.
Calling him ‘Chinese’, they thrashed him black and blue leaving him badly injured. After beating him up, the accused fled the spot.
However, a preliminary investigation conducted by the police has revealed a completely different sequence of events. It was discovered that the man was heavily intoxicated and wandering alone around midnight.
During his journey home, he stopped at a closed juice shop on Neeladri Road in Electronics City, climbed to the first floor, and, due to his inebriated state, accidentally removed his shirt before losing balance and falling. This fall led to his loss of consciousness.
Upon regaining consciousness, he struggled to his feet and suffered further injuries due to his disoriented state. Fortunately, he reached out to his brother-in-law, who promptly engaged the Hoysala police after being alerted by the shop’s security personnel.
However, later he fabricated a story and accused unknown individuals of assaulting him. Police suspect that his account might have been influenced by his intoxicated state and potential hallucinations.
Clarifying the situation, CK Baba, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the South-East region and the nodal officer overseeing migrant workers from Northeastern states, affirmed that the man’s complaint was entirely untrue.
