Bengaluru:  Police officials have arrested six persons for honey-trapping individuals they met through a website named Badoo.

The arrested accused have been identified as Anil Kumar (37) of Mysore, Girish (36) of Tumkur, Shivshankar (50) of Batarayanapur and Ramamurthy (37) of Rajajinagar. Along with them, two young women have also been arrested.

The accused allegedly demanded Rs. 10 lakh from a 39-year-old resident of Rajashri Layout, named Srinivas, out of which they received Rs 3 lakh.

According to the police, the accused had opened an account on the website named Badoo and uploaded photos of some young women.

The victim Srinivas found the photo of one of the women on the website and decided to have physical contact with her.

The accused then sent him the home address of the young lady, following which Srinivas went to her house. However, after some time, three of the accused arrived and made a video of Srinivas who was half-naked with the young woman and demanded Rs 10 lakh from him.

Fearing humiliation, Srinivas paid Rs 3 lakh to the accused. Despite this, the accused continued to demand the remaining balance of Rs 7 lakh. They also threatened to send the video to his family members.

Following this, Srinivas filed a police complaint.
