Bengaluru: Spurned lover stabs woman in face; arrested

Police have arrested a youth on charges of stabbing his ex-girlfriend since she broke up with him.
The accused identified as Avinash, a native of Hassan has been arrested under IPC sections related to criminal intimidation, intentional insult with intent to provoke the breach of peace, wrongful restraint and voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons.
The victim Rekha, hails from Chikkamagaluru and resides at a PG accommodation in Lakshmana Layout in Dodda Banaswadi. She became acquainted with Avinash, who happens to be younger than her, around two years ago while working for the same company.
The two developed a relationship but things turned sour following disagreements and Rekha decided to break up with him. Avinash got agitated as she stopped responding to his calls and messages.
On March 2, Avinash reached Rekha’s workplace and met her outside the office. He confronted her on the reason for avoiding him and asked Rekha to reconsider her decision to break up. However, Rekha stood her ground. An angered Avinash stabbed her in a fit of rage.
As Rekha yelled for help he fled the spot on his two-wheeler. Rekha was rushed to a hospital and is in stable condition.
