Bengaluru:  The city will host the national-level Khelo India University Games from April 24, said Minister of State for Youth empowerment and sports Dr. K C Narayana Gowda on Friday.

Speaking at a press meeting, the minister informed that the games will be inaugurated by the Vice President of India.

The games in Bengaluru will be the second edition of the games. The games which were to be held in 2021 were postponed in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. The first pan-India Khelo India was held in Bhubaneswar in Odisha in 2020.

About 4,500 sportspersons from 210 universities all over India will participate in the event. All arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the games, he added.

COvid vaccination will be mandatory for all participants, the minister said.
