A female techie has lodged a complaint with the Bandepalaya police station, alleging that she was deceived by a young man she met at a gym who had physical relations with her under the pretext of marriage.
The complainant, a 27-year-old technician residing in Bommanahalli, accused Adityanath Singh (26), a native of Uttar Pradesh, of cheating her. The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
Originally from North India, the victim had relocated to Bengaluru a few years ago and was employed in a software company. She resided in Bommanahalli. The accused, who also worked in a software company, had been in Bengaluru for three to four years.
The victim and the accused met at a gym in July 2022, where they bonded over bodybuilding training. Over time, they developed a romantic relationship and began living together in November 2022, with the victim believing that marriage was imminent. However, the accused distanced himself from her in July 2023, and subsequently subjected her to verbal and physical abuse in August 2023.
Despite the altercation, the accused resumed contact with the victim and assured her of marriage, only to withdraw again recently. When confronted, he allegedly assaulted her and attempted to harm her with a knife.
It has been reported that Adityanath Singh distanced himself from the complainant upon learning that she was already married and estranged from her husband. The police have issued a notice to the accused in connection with the case.
