A large crowd of revelers gathered on Brigade Road for New Year celebrations on Sunday night, where an unfortunate incident was reported.
Preliminary reports suggest that a young man allegedly tried to molest and harass a young woman. Angered by this the woman’s boyfriend accosted the man.
Meanwhile, the woman in the crowded area fell ill. Women police officers promptly assisted, providing water and moving her aside.
Police have heightened security at multiple celebration venues across the city. The significant influx of celebrants onto the streets poses a challenge for law enforcement.
